Esraa Saleh about Egyptian literature.
The Egyptian literature has a different taste it has this magic as Egypt itself is a combination of many mixed cultures and civilizations. You can feel old Cairo in Naguib's Mahfouz stories, you can smell the daily life in Sonaa Allah's Ibrahim novels, we can feel the breeze of the travel literature with Gamal's Al-Ghitany, the philosophy is there in Tawfik's Al-Hakim plays. What is really noticed that the Egyptian literature is not rich with it's feminine novelists. They are countable, but one of the most famous writers is Nawal Al-Saadawi as she loves to write about taboo issues.
My recommendations:
Gamal El-Ghitani: Al-Zeini Barakat
Sonaa Allah Ibrahim: Honor and the Committee
Nawal Al-Saadawi: The Fall of the Imam
Tawfik Al-Hakim: The People of the Cave, Fate of a Cockroach
All of those books are novels, simply, it's like a brief about the Egyptians daily life since the early years of the 19th century till now.
